Guest Column: Get in Loser, We’re Expanding

Jupiter, the planet of luck and expansion, made its way into the sign of Cancer. And Jupiter really likes to be there, so get ready for plenty of blessings and abundance in your family and home arenas for the next year.

The last time Jupiter entered Cancer, it was June 25, 2013. What were you doing then? How did your family or home change by the time Jupiter left the water sign on July 16, 2014? Before that, it was July 12, 2001 to August 1, 2002.

The themes this time around will be similar but not the same. You see, we’ve had some big changes happen in the sky since then. The first one that comes to mind is Pluto, the planet of transformation and renewal, leaving stuffy, corporate Capricorn for hippie, tech-friendly Aquarius. Just recently, structure’s fave planet Saturn and the planet of fuzzy borders Neptune both moved into fiery Aries for long residencies. So, get excited for something new.

Cancer is a water sign. It’s about caring and nurturing. Think, baking sweet treats with fresh berries from the garden. Think, white lilies in the kitchen. Pearls. Family photo albums. Swimming in the moonlight. Seafood boil at a restaurant overlooking the beach.

There’s also moodiness and grudges and maybe being a little overprotective of the kids. But that’s a part of life too.

In addition to luck and abundance and growth, Jupiter is about spirituality and higher education. Travel and foreign lands. Legal matters. Friendship!

Some of us might see their child study abroad. Or some of us might see their families expand — by birth or maybe mom moves in. Some of us might move back to our home town.

If you are a Cancer, like me, you might see your waistline expand from all the fun you’ll be having. You may start gardening. You may find a new spiritual calling. You might finally write that book.

There’s a lot of opportunity with Jupiter in Cancer. Be sure to direct that energy the way you want it to go. Use it up!
