Guest Column: Building With the Beaver Moon

By Pia Wilson
We’ve got another supermoon on our hands. This time, it’s the Beaver Full Moon on November 5th at 8:19 am ET. Big and bright, the Beaver Full Moon is named as such because this is the time of year that beavers are busy building their winter dams, the place where they store their food for the winter, and protect themselves against predators. It’s quite fitting that the Beaver Full Moon is in Taurus — the builder of the zodiac and a sign notorious for a love of food.

What are you building? How are you preparing for winter? What do you value?

I ask the last question because Taurus is ruled by Venus, which is associated with our values, also love and money. And art. Do you have some artwork of value? Have you insured it? If it’s in storage, is it protected against fire? Or maybe you want to support your favorite local artist — painters, musicians, actors, singers, writers, dancers, etc.

Taurus is the sign of banking, too. Maybe you want to increase how much you save automatically from your paycheck. Or transfer savings to a high-yield account. Or maybe just date a banker. Or a cabinet maker or cattle owner or confectioner.

You may have a little bit of a sore throat. Try some honey. If you’re feeling like a mental health day, give yourself a sweet treat or buy some jewelry.

Just know that you might be feeling a little more stubborn under the influence of this full moon. It can be a blessing or a curse. You be the judge.

Ultimately, the moon is exalted in Taurus, so the old girl is going to be enjoying herself. Book a massage. Buy some ice cream, the really good kind. Swaddle yourself in the softest, fluffiest robe available to you and watch your favorite movie from the comfort of your bed.

The Sunday before this new moon, Lisa and I will be hosting a full moon celebration at Blu Lotus in Montclair. Hope to see you there! Register here: https://www.blulotuscenter.com/events
